School Wide Events: Book Week

ACTION ITEMS

1. Book Character Parade

  • Prepare your Book Character Parade costume for Friday 24th October
  • Remind students that the library is not open on Friday morning so they cannot get a last minute book for their costume!

 

2. Book Fair

  • Use the sign up form (linked here and also further down on this page) for your class to visit the Book Fair, then post the date to Seesaw so parents can send money
  • Refer to Paul's email about buying books for your classroom
  • Approx 50RMB per Chinese book, 100RMB per English book
  • Students cannot access the Book Fair during break times without an adult

 

3. Visiting Experts

  • Check the Visiting Expert schedules (below) for your times with Heidi and Peter

 

4. Book Swap

  • Remind students to bring in unwanted books to the ES Library for the Book Swap
  • The library staff will give students the token that they can use to get new books at the swap
  • Book Swap happens during snack recess and lunch recess times!

 

5. Dragon Storytellers

  • Use the sign up form (linked here) for your class to have a Dragon Storyteller
  • Dustin has given permission for this to replace the Energy Bus lesson

 

6. Browse and Borrow

LES

  • Heidi will come to your classroom
  • Your scheduled time with Heidi replace your normal library time this cycle
  • However, classes will still need to borrow books 
  • Please email Bec with a time that you will bring your class for a browse and borrow session (B&B) at another time during the week. Why not combine the Book Fair with B&B!

UES

  • Your scheduled library time is not affected
  • You may want to also schedule your book fair time during this block

  • Walk up the stairs outside the ES Theatre and walk along the second-floor library hallway

  • Walk past Chinese classrooms/Design lab into Gym 4
  • Grade 1 sits on left hand side of Gym 4
  • Watch book related movie in Gym 4 until ready to go

  • Walk past Grade 1/Chinese classrooms/Design lab into Gym 4 (so that the 2nd floor hallways stays clear for EY and K)
  • Grade 2 on the right-hand side of Gym 4
  • Watch book related movie in Gym 4 until ready to go

UES Teachers assemble their classes in bleachers on the RIGHT HAND SIDE of Gym 3

  • Walk past VA (2nd floor), turn right, walk past PA,
  • Enter the door where PE office is,
  • Follow the blue path to sit in bleachers where the grade level signs are
